Last Call for Killer Screams!
Floridians say that Halloween in
the sunny state will never be complete without attending Halloween Horror
Nights in Universal Studios Orlando. I attended my first one last Friday,
November 3, to experience the horrific scares and thrills. I must say, it was a
definitely scary trip.
For those who have not experienced
it yet and want to know what to expect for your first time, I’ll give you a
snapshot of what’s in store for you. Although Halloween Horror Nights ended
already, I hope this builds up your excitement for next year.
The experience lasts for about
seven hours, normally from 6 pm to 1 pm. There are several care houses and
scare zones. Scare houses are set up in the theme park’s warehouse-like studios
and tents which has its own themes and a lot more intense than scare zones.
It’s a museum-like experience but a lot more interactive. You’ll need to line
up for this one. This year, it had nine houses which included American Horror
Story, The Shining, Scarecrow, Hive (which was about vampires), Dead Waters
(which was swamp inspired), Fallen (which was about demons, thus, the name),
Ash vs. Evil Dead, and Blumhouse (which focused on the movies Insidious, Sinister
and The Purge). Scare zones are set up on the streets of the park, meaning it’s
a free for all thing, which is more of a strolling experience and a short one
as well. This year, it had four, Altar of Horrors which focused on a hellish
experience, The Purge, Trick-or-Treat which was based on the movie, and
Invasion! Which focused on aliens on Earth.
The lines are crazy long for the
houses and getting a fast pass would definitely be advisable if you go during
the weekend but if you decide not to get one, a lot of activities are still
available like the scare zones and some rides. Mind you, it’s so nice to line
up for the rides ‘cause there’s almost none since people will be lined up for
the houses. Bars and food stations are also set up all over the park, so you’ll
never be hungry or thirsty.
Overall, if you love horror,
thriller, slasher, and gory movies, you’ll love this one. I’d suggest going to
the houses first before anything. No matter what you decide on doing, you won’t
run out of things to do so just enjoy it and be scared!
Happy Halloween!
