Let's Get to Know Each Other

Why don’t we take a break from our little projects and let me introduce myself to all of you and give you an idea on who is behind the blogs.

Hi everyone! I’m Ernestine. As of right now, I’m a Public Relations student in Florida and I’m in P.R. because of events. I first found the love for this industry when I was in seventh grade in Manila, Philippines. Back then I wanted to be a couturier and make wedding dresses versus planning weddings. I remember having a conversation with my sister, who at that time wanted to be a videographer and photographer, about opening our own wedding studio. When high school graduation soon approached, my mom convinced me to take nursing and that’s where the wedding studio plan crumbled and became forgotten. Midway of my nursing degree, mom migrated my sister and I to the U.S. to be reunited with the rest of the family. I tried applying to the nursing schools in Florida when they told me I had to repeat a lot of my classes to have a chance in getting into the program. That’s when I realized that nursing was not for me. I was lost for a while and didn’t know what to do as far as my degree went until I started working for a yacht club in Northeast Florida that’s known for weddings and events. I will never forget the first wedding that I worked. The band was playing and the bride walked passed me, walking towards her husband. I saw the glimmer in her eyes and the tear that the groom shed when he looked at her, full of love and happiness. That’s when it hit me. I told myself, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, to make people happy by helping them celebrate the important dates in their lives.

I know that putting parties and celebrations together get stressful mostly because of the cost of putting them together and that’s what I came here for. I believe that if you see something that’s expensive to buy, try making it yourself because it could cost so much less than that of the store. I want to make celebrations truly happy and not too stressful and really hoping that my knowledge would help you put your parties together.
